Romans 11:16-36 – This text is broken up into two short sermons, instead of one long one.
The first is Analogy, beginning in verse 16. Here are two metaphors that function like proverbs, one taken from Israel’s ceremonial life, the other from her agricultural life.
The second is Doxology, beginning in verse 33. After mining through some of the thickest doctrinal material in Romans, Paul explodes into praise! This praise is a result not only of the immediate section regarding God’s sovereignty in salvation, but also of the entire section of Romans 1-11 regarding God’s plan to save men.
