Romans 1:18-32 – Many people believe that the worse criminals and lowest sinners need God’s forgiveness. But the average person who commits only minor sins, surely we will be judged by our good outweighing the bad.
You may not be surprised that the Apostle Paul wouldn’t agree with that sentiment. In fact, Paul describes the human condition in the exact opposite way in this first large section of Romans.
The saddest part for anyone who says that they don’t need to seek God’s forgiveness, is that they won’t have it (God’s forgiveness). If we never see that we are sick, we will never embrace the Remedy! The grace of Christ is only offered to those who, without it, would be under the wrath of God. Paul is eager to give us the gospel, but he must first show that EVERYONE needs it…including me and you.
