Ephesians 6:14-15 – In the previous three verses, Paul writes about the VERY REAL spiritual battle/war that the followers of Jesus find themselves in. Now, he turns to give us a better idea of how to stand; or, what it means to STAND.
As we study this armor of God, we should understand the warrior not in Roman terms but in MESSIANIC terms. Isaiah 59:17, speaking of the Messiah, “He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak.”
Our model isn’t a soldier of Rome it IS JESUS CHRIST THE MESSIAH. He is armed for battle – we should arm ourselves in the same way.
