Ephesians 4:28 – We live in a culture of theft. The U.S. Department of Commerce estimates that 75 percent of all employees steal at least once, and that half of these steal repeatedly. The Department also reports that one of every three business failures is the direct result of employee theft. According to the Department, employee dishonesty costs business in excess of $50 billion annually in the U.S. and $2.9 trillion annually worldwide.
Ephesus was also a culture a theft. Paul’s concern here in the next verse is that some of the culture of theft had seeped into the church. He reminds us of the gospel-change that has taken place regarding theft as we shed the “old man” for the “new man.”
