Mark 3:7-19 – These two paragraphs in Mark’s Gospel, seemingly have nothing to do with each other. On the one hand, you have the crowds descending on Jesus like shoppers at Walmart on Black Friday; on the other hand, you have the 12 men who are closest to Jesus.
What seems unrelated is actually related in this way: Mark is describing two distinct groups of people who appear to follow Jesus. However, one of those groups is pseudo-disciples, while the other group is genuine disciples.
