Matthew 7:1-6 – Though this passage contains a very famous saying of Jesus. it may be the most often misquoted verse in the Bible, typically used to level criticism against someone who calls sin “sin.” But that’s not what Jesus says.
The Sermon on the Mount runs Matthew 5-7. So, this is toward the end (or last third). Throughout the Sermon, Jesus often uses a method of stating, then explaining a principle. He does this here as well – states the principle, then explains.
The principle here is: Discern, but don’t damn.
