James 2:14-26 – One of the things I touched on last week is the test of faith. Namely…Even though God knows that Abraham trusts him – has faith – God does not experience the quality of Abraham’s faith until it’s played out in history. In other words, in Abraham’s life, God is not content to allow Abraham to adhere to a set of facts about God. Faith is not belief only. It must be acted upon to be genuine faith.
With that background, let’s drop into James 2. We’re looking here because James is going to make a very important point about the nature of faith. Here, James is going to use Abraham in Genesis 22, to illustrate the nature of true faith.
