Matthew 5:6 – Jesus said that those who “hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied.” What kind of satisfaction is Jesus speaking of? Jesus was speaking of a kind of thirst and satisfaction that King David longed for, “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” (Psalm 42:1-2). This kind of hunger and thirst is a good discontentment, and one that only God himself can quench.
