Mark 7:1-13 – Since Mark 3, we haven’t heard from the Pharisees and scribes. But here they come from Jerusalem to once again examine Jesus. This is the longest conflict speech in Mark; the writer is spending a lot of time on this one – because it’s important.
In the text, Jesus confirms that WHAT God says is right and acceptable, is also clear enough for people lives. While the Pharisees claim that WHAT God says is right and acceptable, is NOT clear enough for people lives. They must insist on HOW it looks; they must emphasize HOW.
